This year students of the 2a and 2b class have been writing letters to our partner school in southern Italy. Initially, students wrote short letters to their Italian pen pals including a basic overview of Austria, their lives and a lot of questions. When they received their first replies, they were really excited to get letters that had their names written on the envelope.

At the moment, students are answering their pen pal letters and we are considering to send students’ replies digitally to improve digital skills as well.

All in all, it can be said that students profit from pen pal projects in many ways. They practice real-life questions and work on their letter writing and reading skills. Moreover, they learn facts and figures about another country and make new friends.
